What is a Home Plus?
With a maximum of twelve residents, a Home Plus is a type of senior care living that is specifically designed to provide a more personalized experience than more traditional senior care living spaces. At The Cottages, you will find a culture of acceptance, compassion, and connection. Our goal is to build trusting relationships with each resident through a safe, healthy, and socially enriching environment.
Our Home Plus is characterized by custom care plans that fit your needs. A resident at The Cottages may require simple services like medication management, meals, housekeeping, and laundry services to more complex services including: diabetic management, bathing, dressing, ambulation, and transfer. In some cases, residents may also require short term skilled services such as acute pain management, physical, occupational, or speech therapy. These services are contracted through trusted outside Home Health and Hospice agencies. Either way, your custom plan will ensure you, or your loved one, receive the right kind of care!
The Cottages at Garden City provide a clinically competent and personally caring atmosphere by hiring and training great people who embrace the home-like concept of care. Some of the services that are offered include comprehensive nursing care, meals, housekeeping, laundry, and activities. Expert nursing care is available at all times while residing at The Cottages to ensure the highest quality of care is available just when you need it most. A professional nurse is on call 24/7 when not in the building and a Registered Nurse is available to the staff by phone 24/7.
In addition to excellent care, a primary pillar of importance at The Cottages is to provide a space that feels like home. Each house is approximately 6,700 square-feet and includes twelve large private rooms with individual bathrooms and showers. There is a large open kitchen and dining room area, living room, den/library, laundry, and safe room in each house. A great deal of architectural focus was given to design buildings that aesthetically look and feel like single family homes. The Cottages at Garden City is a home with 12-beds, offering the independence of home living with the 24-hour nursing care. Our long-term care services are ideal for any individual who no longer feels comfortable living at home, but needs a little extra assistance with things such as bathing, cooking, and dressing. We also offer therapy through your Medicare Part B benefit.
There is nothing like The Cottages in the Garden City area. This is not a traditional nursing home, this is a house where resident's can call their own. With such a small community, we have the benefiting of getting to know our residents individually. We are one big family.

Normally, adult day care is used to relieve the caregiver of his or her duties for the day while ensuring that the care recipient will still receive the proper care in a safe, friendly environment. We operate during normal business hours to provide you the opportunity to maintain a standard work week while ensuring your loved one is taken care of.

Adult day care is a great resource for both caregivers and senior adults. Utilizing a senior day care program can improve the recipient’s overall behavior and provide the caregiver with much-needed time off. This type of service allows senior adults to stay in their community while the caregiver goes to work. We offer peace of mind while you're away with our respite care service. Your loved one is welcome at The Cottages for up to 30 days at a time while you are out of town or in need of a short term place for them. Utilizing The Cottages for respite care will provide peace of mind for you knowing your loved one is receiving the proper care in a safe environment.
There is no limit to the total amount of time a guest resident can stay at The Cottages in a calendar year provided there is a break between 30-day visits. Shorter visits are also welcome! This makes The Cottages at Shawnee an exceptional option for respite care, vacation, or other life circumstances that mean your loved one needs a safe and caring place to call home for a short time.

Our dining room and kitchen are open and spacious to facilitate companionship during meals.
